BRAZIL NUTS ARE HARVESTED BY HUMANS AND BY RODENTS

A mechanism for picking up Brazil nut fruits after they have fallen to the ground with the seeds inside..

The red rumped agouti (Dasyprocta agouti) chews through the thick-walled fruit to obtain the seeds. It consumes some and buries others for future use.
