This field guide describes and illustrates 380 species of native, naturalized, and commonly cultivated vines and climbing plants occurring in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The manuscript for this book is currently at 65% percent completion and is expected to be completed by Summer of 2001. This work provides keys to all the taxonomic categories below family level, and includes full generic and species descriptions, along with discussions on their general distribution and local distribution within the geographic scope of the flora. Every taxon is illustrated by Bobbi Angell, highlighting diagnostic characters for ease of usage. The book is written employing simple botanical terms to facilitate its usage by students and laymen. It is primarily intended for the Puerto Rican community and therefore, written in Spanish. This will also facilitate its usage by Dominican and Cuban botanists. The book will be translated into English in order to make it available to English-speaking Caribbeans.
