Katie Lee Galápagos 1990, Amazon 1991, Venezuela 1993, Venezuela 1994, Costa Rica 1995, Galápagos 1996, Amazon 1998 Katie, a well-known natural history artist who is also an instructor in the Garden's Botanical Art and Illustration program, has joined several NYBG ecotours to Central and South America. On the Amazon 1998 tour she directed a successful art program, offering instruction, encouragement, and criticism to twelve participants travelling on the "artists' boat." This program will be offered again in our 1999 Amazon tour.

Victoria Barr Amazon 1990 Victoria travels frequently to the tropics and has exhibited her work in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. Since the mid-1970's her work has been about tropical nature.

Jeanette Martone Amazon 1991 Jeanette was moved by the grace and dignity of the Brazilian caboclos who live along the river. Her work reveals the beauty that can be found in the details of everyday objects.

Michael Rothman French Guiana 1989, French Guiana 1993, Amazon 1996 Michael's work is frequently seen in the Science Times section of The New York Times. He has illustrated 15 children's books, several about the rainforest. Currently, he is working on another about the Monteverde cloud forest of Costa Rica. Jos. A. Smith Amazon 1998 Joe is a Professor of Fine Art at Pratt Institute. He has illustrated about 20 children's books and his work has appeared in Time and Newsweek. He has exhibited his work in 16 single-artist shows and many national group exhibitions.
