Described by Corner in 1972 based on collections dating from the 1930's-40's found under Quercus in Singapore, this taxon associates with Myrtaceae in Australia (Lophostemon, Syncarpia on Fraser Island). Distinctive characters include the general lack of red colors (never red as in B. ananas and B. emodensis), although there may be some red at the apex of the stipe (second image from top). Coarse or fine squamules may develop with age. In addition, there is yellow, cyancescent flesh in the pileus and white, rufescent (to brownish orange) flesh in the stipe.
Very likely mistakenly identified as B. ananas in Australia.
