Originally described from Bolivia, this Collybia is widespread throughout tropical America. This agaric is very thin-fleshed, tough-textured with a conspicuously sulcate pileus, and pubescent stipe. It occurs on humus and litter. It recalls somewhat the aspect of Gymnopus lodgeae, but that species possesses conspicuous pleurocystidia.
