Pileus 23 cm broad, at first convex (with inrolled margin), with age plano-convex, dry; disc smooth, at first grayish yellow, then tan or yellowish brown; margin smooth, when young grayish yellow, then tan to yellowish brown; surface glabrous or tomentose (finely), becoming finely tomentose; with NH4 no reaction. Flesh pale yellow or pale brown, staining absent; with NH4 no reaction. Partial veil absent. Hymenophore lamellate. Lamellae distant, not anastamosing, not intervenose, when young grayish yellow, staining absent. Stipe 2.54 cm long, 813 mm wide, tapering downwards, dry; brown to cream colored; base white. Stipe interior hollow; staining not present; staining not present. Basal mycelium white.
Basidiospores sandalwood yellow, (9.5)10.612(12.5) µm long, (4.5)56(6.8) µm wide, smooth, fusoid, amyloid, with KOH light brown melleous. Hymenial cystidia encrusting pigment present (but small and fine). Clamp connections probably absent.
Mycorrhizal host: Quercus.
Recently described from a single collection found near Santa Cecilia in Guanacaste Province, just north of the Orosí volcano at 300 m elevation. The describing author placed the taxon in section Manausenses. Amyloid spores appear unique in the genus so far. The above description is derived solely from the protologue. Additional collections are needed to complete the characterization of this taxon.
