This brightly colored species has a dry, velvety to pruinose pileus and cadmium yellow to chrome yellow pigmentation. The taste is mild. We have seen this taxon in stands of Quercus oocarpa? in the northern part of the Cordillera Talamanca near Estrella. The basidiospores are warty and partially reticulate.
