This package is generated from a DELTA database (Dallwitz 1980, Dallwitz, Paine, & Zurcher 1993 onwards). It contains an interactive identification and information retrieval system using the program Intkey, running under MS-Windows (Dallwitz, Paine, & Zurcher 1998). Descriptions, illustrations, and commentary that discusses distribution, related or extralimital taxa, and diagnostic features are included.
Our original data on Leccinum and Phylloporus, as they occur in Costa Rica, were collected in DELTA format by Mr. Jai Ranganathan while an intern at the New York Botanical Garden in winter 1998. The database has since been modified by the senior author. Most of the information was distilled from our personal observations on these genera. A fraction of the information on Phylloporus came from Singer (1973) and Singer & Gómez (1984).
Traditional dichotomous keys are available.
This package is a preliminary attempt at Interactive Identification of Neotropical mushrooms and their allies. Please address any criticisms, suggestions, and/or comments to the first author, so that we can make corrections and additions to the database.
