Hygrocybe laeta (Fries) P. Karst.

This species is extremely glutinous and difficult to remove from the soil when collected. It has a disagreeable odor that has been described as "fishy." Hygrocybe laeta is rather common and can be found in most of the montane regions of Costa Rica where Quercus is present. Often placed in the genus Gliophorus.
