Dried Cycad leaves hanging by glasshouse window

Cambridge University Botanic Garden, Cambridge, United Kingdom

Category Finalists 1 – Garden Views

While exploring the wet tropical house at the Botanic Garden in Cambridge I came across these extraordinary withered cycads, hanging in front of the steamed up windowpane. Like two very different personalities, one appears to be closing in on itself while the other reaches out to touch the surrounding foliage. Cycads are believed to be the most primitive living seed plants, dating back more than 300 million years.
