Program Registration

Registration Procedures

  • Advance registration and payment is required for all programs.

  • To register, call (718) 817-8181.

  • For Self-Guided Visits ONLY, register online or fax our form (pdf file) to us at (718) 817-8829.

  • An invoice will be mailed or faxed to your school, detailing your visit schedule, payment, and payment due date.

  • Once payment is received, a confirmation packet will be mailed to you. It will include entrance pass(es), directions, pre-trip teacher pass, and
    pre-visit materials. Please read all materials before your scheduled trip date.

  • On the day of your visit, bring your entrance pass(es) and pre-visit materials with you to expedite your entrance to the Garden.



    Payment

  • Fees are based on a typical class of 16-32 students. Combined classes are not permitted. For fees on classes of 16 students and under please request pricing at time of registration. All fees must be paid no later than two weeks from date of registration- please check your invoice for payment due date. Your visit date is not confirmed until payment is received.

  • The Garden reserves the right to cancel your program if payment is not received on time. You will not receive a reminder call.

  • Payment may be made by check, money order, credit card (MasterCard/VISA), or purchase order.

  • Purchase order payments: We must receive a copy by the day of your visit. For purchase order payment by New York City Department of Education Schools: Vendor Code NEW095, Contract #6163245.

  • Make checks and money orders payable to The New York Botanical Garden.

Preparing for Your Visit

Inclement Weather

All programs run rain or shine. If you choose not to attend due to inclement weather on the day of your visit, every attempt will be made to reschedule your trip. No refunds are available.

Accessibility

The Garden is accessible to special needs groups. Please notify the Children's Education Registration Office of any special needs when you register.

Lunch

Picnicking is available in designated areas only.

Bus Parking and Directions

Bus parking is not available within the Garden. However, there is ample street parking. See the column to the right for school bus directions from outside the Bronx. Call (718) 817-8779 for information on public transportation.

Arrival at the Garden

Please note there is a new entrance and new entry procedures in effect at the Garden. Please read your pre-visit materials carefully for all details.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled program to check in and use restroom facilities.

Classes arriving late will receive a shortened program that will end at the originally scheduled time. Programs are cancelled for all groups arriving more than one half hour late. Refunds are not available.

Postponements and Cancellations

  • If you must make a change concerning your registration, every attempt will be made to reschedule your visit within the calendar year.
  • After the first schedule change, a $15 processing fee will be charged for each additional change.
  • Cancellations made at least 4 weeks in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 2-4 weeks will be refunded 50%. There are no refunds for programs cancelled less than 2 weeks before the program.

Chaperones

For Pre-K and K, one adult chaperone is required per five students. For Grades 1 and above, one adult chaperone is required per seven students. A maximum of 5 additional chaperones may accompany a class for an additional fee of $6 per person.

School Bus Directions

Please note there is a new location for School Group Entrance.

  • Major Deegan Expressway South
    (Western Westchester)

    Take the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) southbound to the E. 233rd Street Exit. Make a left onto 233rd. Take E.233rd Street to Webster Avenue. Turn right onto Webster Avenue. Take Webster Avenue to Bedford Park Boulevard. Turn left onto Bedford Park and continue to light. Turn right on Kazimiroff Boulevard. Bear right at the fork on Kazimiroff to Crotona Avenue. Turn left onto E. Fordham Road, and left onto Kazimiroff Boulevard; The New York Botanical Garden will be on your right. Drive into the first entrance you approach, which is the blue School Group Entrance.

  • Cross-Bronx Expressway North
    (Manhattan and New Jersey)

    Take the Cross-Bronx Expressway (I-95) north to the Webster Avenue Exit. Make a left onto Webster Avenue. Take Webster Avenue to 180th Street. Turn right onto 180th Street. Turn left onto Southern Boulevard. Southern Boulevard will turn into Kazimiroff Boulevard, once you pass Fordham Road. Follow as directed above.

  • New England Thruway North
    (Long Island and Queens)

    Take the New England Thruway (I-95) north to Pelham Parkway West Exit. Take Pelham Parkway Kazimiroff Boulevard. Turn right onto Kazimiroff Boulevard. Follow as directed above.

  • New England Thruway South
    (Connecticut and Eastern Westchester)

    Take the New England Thruway (I-95) south to Pelham Parkway West Exit. Take Pelham Parkway to Kazimiroff Boulevard. Turn right onto Kazimiroff Boulevard. Follow as directed above. For public transportation directions to the Garden call: (718) 817-8779.
