There’s no better place than The New York Botanical Garden to learn about plants and their importance to all life on Earth. This year, we are pleased to welcome you to the Garden through the new school group entrance–the Everett Garden Gate. Conveniently sited near the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden and the picnic area, this entrance serves school groups exclusively. Look for details in your confirmation packet.
Enjoy Guided Explorations and Pea Pod Explorers in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, hands-on Gardening Workshops in the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden, Workshops in GreenSchool, Guided and Self-Guided Visits in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory and around the Garden Grounds, and Professional Development programs for teachers.
In honor of the 2009 bicentennial of Charles Darwin’s birthday, this spring, Guided Explorations in the Adventure Garden and
Darwin’s Discoveries in GreenSchool will highlight the impact of plants on Darwin’s groundbreaking contributions to science. Also new in GreenSchool is
Haiku in the Garden, which explores the ancient art of Japanese haiku poetry.
There are dynamic pre- and post-visit activities to extend the learning experience beyond the field trip and all programs are created in accordance with New York City Science Standards, New York State Learning Standards, and National Science Education Standards. We look forward to seeing you at the Garden!
