Abdul-Salim holds a Ph.D. from Harvard U. and a MS
from the U. of Missouri-St. Louis. He is a postdoctoral fellow,
Cullman Program for Molecular Systematics Studies at the Garden.
Amy Albracht
received her MFA in Painting/ Printmaking from Yale U. She
is a teacher and artist who lives and works in New York City.
Evelyn Alemanni
brings her passion for flowers to the medium of silk
painting. She is an award-winning gardener artist, gardener
and writer. In 2000, her garden was one of five finalists
for Good Morning America's Best Garden in America contest.
She is a principal of ALLEA in Elfin Forest, CA. Her webpage

Rebecca
Allan received her BA from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania
and MFA from Kent State University. She studied botanical
illustration with

and has been on the faculty of Cornish College of the
Arts Seattle Academy of Fine Art since 1995.
John Anderton
is a freelance illustrator and artist based in Washington
D.C. His field experience includes Asia, Central America,
and the Caribbean.
Sally Apfelbaum
received a MFA in Photography from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia,
PA. Her art has been shown in numerous one person and group
exhibitions in the US and abroad. She was awarded the Giverny
Grant, to live and work in Monet's garden in France, along
with receiving several grants from the French government.
Currently, she has work in the exhibit: Contemporary Photography
and the Garden: Deceits and Fantasies, organized by the American
Federation of the Arts, and traveling to museums around the
country.
Donna Arabian
is a horticultural therapist at the Rusk Institute Glass Garden,
Terence Cardinal Cooke Healthcare Center and Schneider Children's
Hospital.
Jay Archer,
APLD, is the principal of John Jay Land Management
Corp. located in Katonah and Brewster, NY and Bethel, Conn.
Laurel Ariev
is an instructor at SUNY Farmingdale where she also
received her degree in Ornamental Horticulture.
Carlo Balistrieri
is the Curator of the Rock Garden at the Garden and a free
lance photographer. He has owned a specialty mail-order nursery
for orchids and exotic plants.
Edward Sibley
Barnard is a photographer and author of New

Jane Brook
Barba studied Landscape Design at the Garden, and Garden
Restoration and Preservation at LaNapoule Art Foundation in
France.
Ursula Basch,
BCE, is a practicing herbalist and an environmental
engineer. She is the founder of The Herbal Bear, a holistic
center.
Tolly Beck,
MS, is the Community Horticulture Educator for Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Rockland County and a Horticulturist
for Lasdon Park and Arboretum, Westchester County Parks, Recreation
and Conservation.
John Beirne,
BS, a horticultural and garden design consultant, runs
a horticultural therapy program at New Bridge Services, Inc.,

Sylvia Bird,
AIFD, NDSF, is a Chelsea Flower Show Medal Winner,
serves on the international committee of the AIFD and has
designed for Her Majesty the Queen, Princess Anne, and the

Gail Bishop
holds a BS in Industrial Design and a BS in Art Education.
She has extensive experience in landscape design and is the
owner of Thunder Hill Garden Design.
Bob BonGiorno
is vice president of Suburban Ponds in Dix Hills, NY. He has
over 40 years experience in pond design, construction, and
renovation. Suburban Ponds specializes in pond design and
installation.
Florence
Boogaerts holds a Landscape Design Certificate from
the Garden. She has her own design and installation firm,
Florence Boogaerts Design, in Greenwich, Conn.
Jamie Boyer
is the Manger of Professional Development at the Garden
and a Ph.D. candidate at SUNY, Binghamton where he studies
the evolution and development of early land plants.
Lorella
Brocklesby is adjunct professor for humanities at New
York University. She also teaches at Parsons School of Design
and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
David Dew
Bruner, RLA, is a registered landscape architect. His
projects include many public, historic landscapes, residential
landscapes, and interior projects.
David Bulpitt,
BS, is a principal of Brookside Nurseries, Inc., in
Norwalk, Conn., which specializes in soil mixes for horticultural
use.
Marie Stella
Byrnes, MA, MS, is a landscape designer and historian
and currently teaches at the Landscape Institute, Arnold Arboretum
at Harvard University. Her design firm, Kirin Farm Enterprises,
Inc., specializes in historic landscapes and thematic gardens.
Wayne Cahilly
graduated from the Garden's School of Professional Horticulture
and is Manager of the Institutional Mapping Department at
the Garden. He is the owner of Cahilly's Horticultural Services,
and a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists.
John Capobianco
is the owner of the Jiusan Bonsai Company on Long Island,
and is President of the Bonsai Society of Greater New York,
and the Long Island Chrysanthemum Society.
Margaret
Carey has taught Chinese brush painting, calligraphy,
and porcelain painting for over 30 years. She is past president
of the N.Y. State Federation of the World Organization of
Porcelain Artists.
James Carr,
BA, is the author of Gardening and Landscaping the
Natural Way. He uses his natural method to manage properties
ecologically.
Sarah Carter
is the Associate Curator of Herbaceous Plants at the Garden
and holds a BS in Horticulture from Berry College, Rome, GA.
Sara Cedar
Miller has been the Photographer for the Central Park
Conservancy since 1984 and the Historian since 1989. She holds
degrees from Hunter College and Pratt Institute and is the
author of Central Park, an
American Masterpiece.
Nancy Chambers,
HTR, HRT, is Director of the Enid A. Haupt Glass Garden/Horticultural
Therapy Program at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine,
NYU Medical Center.
John Cody,
M.D., is the author and artist
of Wings of Paradise,
a book about the great Saturniids, or silk moths found in
many parts of the world, from suburban backyards to tropical
rainforests. A retired psychiatrist and outspoken environmentalist,
his paintings were the subject of a one-man exhibition at
the Smithsonian Institution.
Susan Cohen,
RLA, ASLA, is coordinator of the Landscape Design Program
at the Garden and a graduate of Smith College. After training
at the Garden, she received her BS in Landscape Architecture
from City College of New York. She is principal of Susan Cohen
Landscape Architect in Greenwich, Connecticut and an award-winning
designer, who also lectures and writes about garden history
and landscape design. Ms. Cohen teaches at the Garden, coordinates
the Landscape Design Portfolio series and is the designer
of Momijigari: The Japanese Autumn Garden. She is also a member
of the Board of Advisors for the Garden.
Christina
Colón, Ph.D., teaches Biodiversity and Conservation
at Columbia University's Center for Environmental Research
and is a Curator of Education at the Garden.
Diana Conklin
studied fine arts at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She has
been a floral designer, and proprietor of Everlastings by
Diana for 20 years. She lectures and teaches throughout Long
Island and surrounding areas.
Margaret
Conover holds a Ph.D. in Botany from the U. of Massachusetts.
She was a Fulbright Fellow and has extensive teaching experience.
Brid Craddock
earned a BS in Interior Design before venturing into a new
career in horticulture. She received certificates in Horticultural
Science and from the Connecticut Landscape Association and
worked with Sydney Eddison on her garden.
Deanna P.
Crawford received her certificate in Floral Design
from the Garden in 2003 and is the owner of Delphinium, a
custom floral design business in Goshen, N.Y.
Pat Czarnecki
holds an MBA from San Francisco State University and
received a certificate in Horticultural Therapy Certificate
from the Garden. She is a practicing horticultural therapist
and owner of GreEn'ergy, LLC, delivering full-service horticultural
therapy programs to twenty facilities throughout NJ.
Dan Dalton
is an I.S.A. Certified Arborist with the Care of Trees in
Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Phyllis
D'Amico, HTR, is coordinator of the Horticultural Therapy
Program at the Garden and a registered Horticultural Therapist
with the American Horticultural Therapy Association. She is
also a multi-certified teacher who has worked with developmentally
disabled children and adults for over 25 years. She is the
Lead Science Teacher at the New Jersey Regional Day School
at Newark where she has created an award-winning horticultural
therapy program that uses gardening, nature studies and environmental
education with special needs students of all ages and abilities.
Ms. D'Amico specializes in children's garden design, organic
gardening, nutrition education, service-learning projects
and inclusion programs. She earned a certificate in Horticultural
Therapy from the Garden where she has also been an instructor,
helping to prepare horticultural therapists for the last 15
years. Ms. D'Amico is the past president of the Mid-Atlantic
Chapter of the American Horticultural Therapy Association.
Sonia D'Andrea,
HTA, holds a MS degree in education and a BS degree
from Lehman College and has worked at the Jewish Home and
Hospital for the Aged, and Bronx Lebanon Special Care Center.
Joyce Demchak
has been a floral designer for 30 years. She is an F.T.D.
Master Designer and head floral designer for A.C. Moore in
Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
Eric DePrano
is the Associate Curator of the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden
and Rose Collections at the New York Botanical Garden. He
has worked at the Huntington Botanical Gardens in Los Angeles
and maintained the rose collection at the Virginia Robinson
Gardens in Beverly Hills.
Caroline
DeWilde is the former Director of The School of Professional
Horticulture at the Garden. She holds an A.B. in Botany from
Wellesley College and a Master of Professional Studies (Ornamental
Horticulture) from Cornell University.
Jim Diermeier
CGM/CNP, Associate Director of Outdoor Gardens and
Home Gardening at NYBG. He has extensive experience in landscape
and grounds management and is currently the President of the
New York State Turfgrass Association.
Kenneth
DiLorenzo, Esq., holds a J.D. from Fordham U. School
of Law, and an MS from Columbia U. He has been an instructor
of Latin, Greek, and Spanish.

is the 2002 winner of the Connecticut Horticultural Society's

Edinger has 20 years of experience in the floral industry

Harris Einhorn, RLA, former landscape architect at
the Garden, is a principal of Landscape Design Associates
of Westchester, Inc., specializing in residential design and
installation.
Anne Marie
Evans is a teacher living in England. Author of An
Approach to Botanical Painting, she holds a Masters
degree in Art and Design. She composed and established the
first Diploma in Botanical Painting in the UK and has been
directing the Program at the Chelsea Physic Garden ever since
it began. She is Honorary Director of the American Society
of Botanical Artists and Honorary President of the Chelsea
Physic Garden Florilegium Society. She runs a Summer School
in her Studio and believes that anybody can achieve a competent
standard with patience and appropriate teaching.
Patri Feher
Donald Ferlow,
RLA, ASLA, is a professional wetland scientist and
landscape architect. He designed his first wetland in 1977
and created the first wetland biofilter for specific runoff
renovation in 1983.
Jodie Fetzer
earned an MS in Plant Pathology from the University of Minnesota
and currently is as the IPM Manger at the Garden.
Nancy Fiano
studied Feng Shui at The Metropolitan Institute of Interior
Design. She is a student of R.D. Chin, Feng Shui Architect.
She combines her business, Feng Shui Spaces, with Acorn Landscaping
Co., Inc., to create harmonious spaces.
Barbara
Fisher is the Supervisor of the WAY Greenhouse work
site at The Children's Village, Dobbs Ferry, NY.
Todd Forrest,
Associate Vice President for Horticulture and Living Collections
at the Garden, is a graduate of the Yale University School
of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
Amber Freda
designs plant installations for a plantscaping company in
New York. She worked, among many other projects, on the orchids
and bromeliads for the butterfly exhibit at the Museum of
Natural History.
Gwenn Fried
is a horticultural therapist at The Glass Garden at N.Y.U.
Medical Center and Project FIND Senior Center in NYC. She
consults and lectures internationally on development of healing
gardens and horticultural therapy programs.
Elena Andrews
Gaillard is a past president of the Manhattan Orchid
Society, and has been their newsletter editor for 20 years.
She has taught numerous orchid classes for beginners for the
Horticultural Society of NY and has lectured at local orchid
societies and the NYBG.
Josh Galiley
is an I.S.A. certified arborist and climber-pruner at the
Garden. He holds a BS in Forestry from the College of Natural
Resources at the U. of Vermont.
Donald Gambino
is a computer artist, consultant, educator, and trainer, since
1983, teaching art directors, multi-level students, and individuals
to use computers, software and digital cameras. Formerly the
Chairperson of the Computer Art Department at the School of
Visual Arts in Manhattan, Donald created the BFA program in
Computer Art.
Jody Gangloff-Kaufman
holds a Ph.D. in Entomology from Cornell University. She is
a Specialist with the N.Y. State Integrated Pest Management
Program, Cornell University.
Nancy Gerlach-Spriggs
is a co-author of The Restorative
Garden: Healing Landscape. She holds a BSLA from City
College of New York, and a MLA from Harvard University Graduate
School of Design. She is Executive Co-director of the non
profit organization Meristem.
Craig Gibbs
earned a BS in Natural Science and currently writes his dissertation
in ecology at City University. He has taught for the Wildlife
Conservation Society and at City University.
Judy Glattstein
is a garden consultant. A popular instructor at the
Garden, she lectures on garden topics across the U.S. and
abroad. The award-winning author of books on water gardening,
shade gardening, bulbs, and more, her newest book is Bulbs
for Garden Habitats,
published by Timber Press in 2005. This is her eighth book,

Guarino is an arborist at Longwood Gardens in Kenneth
Square and was formerly the Foreman of the Arborists in the
Horticulture Department at the Garden.
Alan Haigh
owns and operates the Home Orchard Company, which has a bearing
age fruit tree nursery. He maintains orchards and specimen
apple trees in Westchester County.
Carol Hamilton,
BA, MA, is an artist whose work has been exhibited
at such venues as the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation,
the U.S. Botanical Garden, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Florilegium Society. She is former president of the American
Society of Botanical Artists and the NY Chapter of the Guild
of Natural Science Illustrators.
Barbara
Hauge holds B.S. degrees in both Horticulture and Landscape
Architecture. She has practiced in the Landscape Architecture
department of Peter Gisolfi Associates in Hastings, NY and
is currently a freelance landscape designer.
Tom Hilbert
is the owner of Hilbert Landscapes in Garnerville, N.Y., a
full service landscape design/build company specializing in
garden masonry.
Eleanor
Hoffman, MA, MSES, is a certified landscape designer
and horticultural consultant, Master Gardener, lecturer, landscape
historian, and photographer.
Wendy Hollender
holds a BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design
in textile design, and earned a Certificate in Botanical Art
and Illustration at the Garden. She is a cofounder of Reiss
Hollender LLC, a textile design firm and founder of WH Art
& Design, which highlights her botanical original art

Rhoda Holzer
is teacher and award-winning artist. She holds a BFA from
Tyler School of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, and a Certificate
from the Garden.
Katie and
Ryan Huish both received their B.S. at Brigham Young
University in Utah. Katie double majored in Botany and Horticulture;
Ryan majored in Botany with a minor in Socio-cultural Anthropology.
Their current research focus is on the ethnobotany of Tonga.
Valerie
Imbruce is a Ph.D. candidate in plant sciences at the
Graduate Center of the City University of New York and the
New York Botanical Garden. Her research focuses on immigration
and ethnic markets, particularly in New York City's Chinese
enclaves.

BA, AAS, is a horticulturist and garden designer. She
is a principal of Liz Innvar, Inc., in New York City.
Jan Johnsen
holds a degree in landscape architecture from Friends World
College and a Master's Degree in Planning from University
of New Orleans. She is author of Ortho's
All About Trees. Since 1986 she has been a principal
of the design/build firm Johnsen Landscapes & Pools. She
was the recipient of the 2003 NYBG "Instructor of the
Year Award".
Lauretta
Jones, a botanical illustrator, holds a BFA from Cleveland
Institute of Art, and a Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration
from the Garden. She formerly taught at the School of Visual
Arts.

Kang, AIFD, holds a BFA in Commercial Arts and Oil
Painting. She is Head Designer at Flowers by Frank Laning,
Ltd., and is an award
winning floral designer, known for her floral collages.
Maxine Kaplan,
HTM, worked as a horticultural therapist at the Westchester
Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. for the past 23 years. She
is a Master Gardener and works presently as consultant and
lecturer.
Michelle
Kehyaian is an ISA certified arborist with a BS in
Environmental Design. She is a staff member of the Garden's
arboretum and grounds crew.
Leah Kennell,
AIFD, an award-winning floral designer, has more than
20 years experience in the industry. She is a curator of Wildflower
Island at Teatown Lake Reservation in Ossining, N.Y.
Marjorie
Kern is a noted herbalist who lectures internationally
and has appeared on television and radio discussing the use
of herbs in crafts and gardening.
Bente Starcke
King, born in Denmark, has taught at Cornell University
for over 15 years. She paints plant portraits in watercolor,
colored pencil, and pen/ink. She has taught and exhibited
at The Royal Danish Horticultural Society in Denmark and at
the Rhode Island School of Design, among other places. Her
book Beautiful Botanicals,
How to Draw Flowers and Plants
was released in August 2004 by North Light Books.
Bradley
Klein, a long-time producer, director and reporter
for television and public radio, now produces audio tours
for museums as Executive Producer of Acoustiguide Corporation
in New York. He is editor of the recently published Damselflies
of the Northeast.
Nina Kramer
RLA, ASLA, has a practice based in New York City. She
has been a visiting critic/lecturer at Yale University, University
of Pennsylvania, and the City College of New York. She received
her M.L.A. from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Frank Laning,
AIFD, AAF, PFCI, is the coordinator of the Floral Design
Program at the Garden and owner of Flowers by Frank Laning,
Ltd. in Chappaqua, New York. He serves on the advisory board
of Flowers & Magazine,
Cut Flower Outreach Team, and the Board of the AIFD Foundation.
He designed for three Presidential Inaugurations. Frank has
presented designs, instruction, and commentary at symposia,
conventions, and schools throughout the United States and
Asia. He has received the Best of Show award at the Philadelphia
Flower Show, the exclusive Tommy Bright Award from PFCI, and
he is a Fellow of the Institute (AIFD).
Maureen
Laning is a graduate of the Garden's Intensive Floral
Design Program. She is the owner of the Bedford Village Florist,
Ltd.
Deirdre
Larkin is a horticulturist and historian of plants
and gardens, and formerly was Historical Horticulturist at
The Cloisters. She is writing a book about the medieval plant
world.
Katie Lee,
MA, is a botanical and wildlife artist, who teaches
worldwide
and has illustrated award-winning children's books. Her work
is in museum collections and exhibitions around the globe.
Carol Levine
is author of A Guide to Wildflowers
in Winter. She holds a MA degree in biology education
from Fairfield University and currently serves as the Vice
President for Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford, Conn.
Mindy Lighthipe,
BFA, MA, is the coordinator of the Botanical Art and
Illustration program at the Garden. She has earned a Certificate
in Botanical Art and Illustration at the Garden and Certification
for Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain from Dr. Betty
Edwards. As an artist, Ms. Lighthipe has created work for
Costa Flores in Costa Rica, Kitchen
Garden Magazine, the Entomological Society, the North
Carolina Aquarium, and hosts her own web site, bugsbeastsbotanicals.com.
Gary Lincoff,
BA, MA, has taught plant studies at the garden since
the 1970s. He is author of several books on mushrooms including
The Audubon Society Field
Guide to North American Mushrooms. He was the recipient
of the 2002 NYBG "Instructor of the Year Award."
Arnie Linzer
is a Graduate of Farmingdale University with decades of experience
in the lawn industry. Currently, he is managing a wholesale
fertilizer distributorship and teaching DEC pesticide and
recertification courses.
Bill Logan,
Certified Arborist and expert in tree assessment, is an award-winning
writer about trees, gardens, and natural history. Among his
publications is Dirt: The
Ecstatic Skin of the Earth. He has taught at the U.
of California and Columbia U.
Gerard Lordahl
is Director of the Open Space Greening Program for the Council
on the Environment of New York City and President of the American
Community Gardening Association. He holds degrees in horticulture
from SUNY Farmingdale and Cornell University.
Marcus Luck
is a partner with Sozo Landscape Design in Manhattan. He holds
a BA from California Polytechnic State University, an MA from
the University of Washington, and an MBA from the University
of Texas at Austin.
Nancy Mathisen,
a long-time member of the Rock Garden Society, studied horticulture
at SUNY Farmingdale and works in the Rock Garden at NYBG.

McKay, BS, MS, is with the Cornell Cooperative Extension

Melanie
Menachem-Riggs, BS, is the principal of her own landscape
design firm, which specializes in designing and installing
residential landscapes.
Jeff Mendoza
is the Principal of J. Mendoza Gardens Inc. and has created
exceptional gardens since 1987. Trained as a sculptor he guides
a team of landscape architects and horticulturalists to artfully
manipulate space, volume and color in the landscape. His solutions
to the complicated problems of urban rooftop gardening are
admired for their originality and beauty.
Leda Meredith
holds a certificate in Ethnobotany from NYBG. She is a professional
gardener, writes for Urban
Homestead and other publications, and has over twenty-five
years experience working with wild edible and medicinal plants.

Susan Pell,
Ph.D. is the coordinator of the Botany Program at the
Garden. She is the Laboratory Manager of the Lewis B. and
Dorothy Cullman Program for Molecular Systematics Studies
at The New York Botanical Garden. She recently received her
Ph.D. in Plant Biology from Louisiana State University in
Baton Rouge, La. Dr. Pell studies the evolutionary relationships
of the cashew family, Anacardiaceae,
and travels worldwide to collect specimens for her research.
Néstor
Pérez-Molière is a Curatorial Assistant
at the Garden's Herbarium and received a BS in Biological
Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico.
Gerard T.
Pfeiffer, AIFD, is the owner of the Old Greenwich Flower
Shop in Old Greenwich, Conn. He has over 30 years experience
in the floral industry and has been inducted into the prestigious
American Institute of Floral Design.
Ellen Spector
Platt, MA, was the proprietor of Meadow Lark Flower
and Herb Farm in Orwigsburg, PA. She has written nine books
on flower and herb topics. Her latest book is Easy
& Elegant Rose Design: Beyond the Garden.
Rich Pomerantz
is a professional freelance photographer specializing in the
field of horticulture. His work is published in the White
Flower Farm catalogue and many fine gardening magazines including
Garden Design,
Organic Gardening and Horticulture.
Joan Prior
is Director of District II Federated Garden Clubs of New York
State, which include Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk.
She is a floral designer who presents at numerous programs,
and a Master Flower Show Judge.
Peter Provenzale
is a climber-pruner at the Garden. He holds a BS from the
University of Massachusetts and an Associate degree in Urban
Forestry.
Christopher
S. Raimondi is a Certified Interior Landscape Professional,
president of Raimondi Horticultural Group, and he has won
many awards.
Douglas
Raska, AIFD, CAFA, has over 25 years experience as
a floral designer in all aspects of the industry, from store
management, to trade show moderator and lecturer.
Ted Rathjen
is a trained horticulturist and arborist and owner
of Wetherford Landscapes, Aquatic and Garden Center in Verbank,
New York. He is an award-winning pond builder specializing
in pond construction, aquatic plants, native plants, koi,
and pond supplies.
Dick Rauh,
Ph.D., holds a doctorate in Biological Science from
Lehman College and has a Botanical Art and Illustration Certificate
from the Garden.
Rick Ray
taught ornamental horticulture for over 30 years. Retired
from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA , he currently
teaches at the Arboretum School of the Barnes Foundation.
Cynthia
Reed holds a BA
in graphic design from Penn. State U. She is a gardener
at the Queen's Botanical Garden where she is responsible for
the planning and maintenance for a number of gardens.
Bill Rein
is the Horticulturist for the Henry Schmieder Arboretum, with
twenty years of experience in horticulture. Bill earned a
B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College
and an M.S. in Horticulture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute
and State University. He teaches at Delaware Valley College.
Celia Reiss
holds a B.S. from University of Wisconsin, Madison in textile
design, and an AA from FIT in textile design. She is a botanical
artist and a designer, presently designing interiors with
her own firm, Celia Reiss Interiors, after designing textiles
for 15 years, with her business partner for their firm Reiss
Hollender.
Jason Roberts,
RLA, holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture and has
over 14 years of experience. He is currently a Project Manager
for Rose Associates, Inc.
Brad Roeller
is Manager of Display Gardens at the Institute of Ecosystem
Studies in Millbrook, NY. He holds a BS in Environmental Conservation
from Cornell University.
Roberta
Rosenthal, AAS, owner of RSR Designs, N.Y. is a fine
artist, illustrator, designer and consultant. A graduate of
the Fashion Institute of Technology, she has thirty-five years
of experience of exhibited and published art. She has taught

L. Ruby is the Executive Vice President of Mid-Atlantic
Koi Club, has authored numerous pond-related articles, and
has been an active member of the water gardening community
for more than 20 years.

the former Senior Curator in the Horticulture Department.
Gray Russell,
Environmental Outreach Coordinator for the Township of Montclair,
N.J., provides information to residents about home composting,
recycling, and waste prevention.
Tom Russell,
APLD is a landscape designer in Stamford, Conn. He
received his certificate in Landscape Design from the Garden.
Margaret
Saul currently residing in the USA, is an internationally
recognized botanical artist and teacher from Australia who
has worked in this field of art since 1976. She is represented
in private and public collections around the world and in
numerous science and art publications. Four of her paintings
are included in the prestigious botanical art collection owned
by Dr. Shirley Sherwood, for whom she presents master classes

Kim Yaffe,

the Garden and currently develops and facilitates horticultural

Linda Yang,
MA, has dug in every city condition and authored four
garden books. For nearly two decades she was a New York Times
garden columnist, and presently is a garden consultant and

Tamson Yeh

Mihae Yoon,
a registered landscape architect, has a MLA from the University
of Pennsylvania. She has been involved in site planning and
landscape design for over 15 years.

Yurgalevitch, Ph.D., is the coordinator of the Commercial
Horticulture Program at the Garden and Director of the School
of Professional Horticulture. He earned his BS degree in plant
science from the University of Rhode Island, and his MS and
Ph.D. degrees in horticulture from Rutgers University. Previously,
he was with the University of Florida Extension Service where
he developed programs for arborists, landscape architects,
and the commercial landscape industry in Southeast Florida.
Ellen Zachos,
BA, is the coordinator of the Gardening Program at
the Garden. A graduate of Harvard University, she received
certificates in Commercial Horticulture (tracks 1, 3, and
4) and Ethnobotany from the Garden. She teaches several Continuing
Education classes, covering perennials, annuals, orchid care,
garden maintenance, and tropical plants. Ellen is a garden
writer and photographer, author of several books and numerous
articles. Her company, Acme Plant Stuff, designs, installs,
and maintains interior and exterior gardens in the New York
area.
Edward Zaremba
is an artist specializing in botanical oil painting using
the Dutch Master's technique.
Sofia Zuberbuhler
holds a Masters in Urban Design and a B.S. in Urban Landscape
Architecture from the City College of New York. She is a LEED
Accredited Professional and is currently involved in the field
of sustainable design.
