Profile
Kurt is responsible for the planning, planting, and maintenance of the Garden’s 250-acre historic landmark landscape, including its arboretum collections, Ross Conifer Arboretum, Benenson Ornamental Conifers, Azalea Garden, and Stone Mill landscape among others. He is responsible for the maintenance and management of over 90 acres of lawns and for the maintenance of all equipment used in the landscape He oversees plant health care for all the living collections and gardens in a manner that is as sustainable as possible. He oversees the Green Materials Recycling Center which recycles all plant material produced at the Garden to produce mulches, compost, and soil for use throughout the landscape, gardens, and greenhouses. Kurt graduated from the Garden’s School of Professional Horticulture and began his career as a gardener working to maintain the turf and grounds.
