Chrysanthemums

Fall

Chrysanthemums, or ''mums,'' are the essence of autumn at the Garden.

These delicate fall favorites are so revered in Japan that the country celebrates a National Chrysanthemum Day. You'll understand their appeal as you stroll through the Perennial Garden, where they complement late-flowering salvias and asters, and along Seasonal Walk, where they combine with the unusual textures and colors of ornamental cabbage and kale.

And don't miss the Home Gardening Center, which devotes a whole area to these beauties. Its Korean Chrysanthemum Garden is filled with daisy-like flowers in shades of pink, apricot, red, cream, and butterscotch.
