Talk about well rounded--crabapples are handsome trees in every season, not to mention one of the best flowering trees for the home garden. The 80 varieties in our Donald J. Bruckmann Crabapple Collection, set above Daffodil Hill, are at their flashiest in May. Erupting with masses of rich red, deep pink, or bright white blossoms are gnarled old specimens, ones that gracefully weep, and others that proudly hold their branches up to the sky. When autumn crispness settles in, red, gold, and yellow fruit decorates the branches and once again the crabapples earn their place in the Garden.
