Gardening Tips

Canna Do It?

If you would like to successfully over-winter your cannas, wait until they are hit by the first frost, remove all the dead foliage, and dig them out of the ground. Clean off the rhizomes and store in a cardboard box lined with newspaper and filled with slightly damp peat moss. Do not store cannas in a sealed plastic bag — they will rot. Store in your garage or another cool, dark, out-of-the-way spot — a temperature between 40 and 55 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal.

Season: Fall
