Plants and Fungi: Ten Current Research Stories

For more than a century, scientists at The New York Botanical Garden have traveled far and wide to better understand plants and fungi, their relationship to their environments, and their many uses by people around the world. Now you can get a glimpse of their groundbreaking work via this exhibition in the Britton Science Rotunda and Gallery.

Redouté to Warhol: Bunny Mellon's Botanical Art

This exhibition in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library’s Art Gallery presented in partnership with the Oak Spring Garden Foundation features masterworks from the Oak Spring Garden Library collection belonging to the late Rachel Lambert Mellon. Curated by Dr. Lucia Tongiorgi Tomasi, Susan Fraser, and Tony Willis, the exhibition will include nearly 80 objects ranging from rare watercolors by French artist Jacques LeMoyne de Morgues (ca. 1533-88) and Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840) to 20th-century works by artists such as Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) and Andy Warhol (1928-87).
Inside the cozy Discovery Center, kids of all ages can take a closer look at the wonders of plants and animals in winter. Make bark rubbings, count tree rings, craft a bud necklace and head back into the winter garden with a field notebook to discover the vital sparks of life that lie just below the surface of this quiet season in the Northeast.
