The whole family can learn where vanilla and chocolate come from (the seedpod of the vanilla orchid, Vanilla planifolia, and the seeds of the cacao tree, Theobroma cacao), and explore both through hands-on activities.

Bronx Arts Ensemble Family Concert
Babar

Location: Arthur and Janet Ross Lecture Hall
The Bronx Arts Ensemble and master mime and storyteller Michael McGuigan present the popular children's story of Babar the Elephant, who grows up to become king of the jungle. Babar's friends Queen Celeste, Cornelius, and Arthur are also on hand for a performance that invites plenty of audience participation. Kids are also introduced to musical instruments through circus music, including Entry of the Gladiators, the Bear's Dance from Petrouchka, and Dance of the Hours.

Beauty and the Beast

See the Children's Theatre Company at Lehman in a reinterpretation of the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast, with an added sprinkle of their special brand of fairy tale sketch comedy and musical accompaniment by the Bronx Arts Ensemble.
