The scent of real roses, including the green leaves on the stem is gorgeous!

  38. Bettina Brozsek says:

Lilac allows you to smell its blossoms from a few feet away. Roses, – you have to sink your face into the individual blossoms and take a deep breath and lavender asks you, to rub its leaves gently in order to release the aromatic oils. Honeysuckle might surprise you during your evening walk through your garden. It is all a matter of preference and maybe, depending on what mood you are in that very day or evening….These smells make us happy, but nothing makes me more happy than hovering butterflies and bees, who find the smell and sight of my flowers irresistible and feed them at the same time. The highpoint of the season so far are yellow tiny birds (common Yellowthroat – common Warbler, I believe) sitting on my cosmos and giant zinnias and possibly picking up insects. I have never seen anything like it before and what a joy to not just have a lovely garden but be a host to a great wild life party…

  42. Kimberly Holmes says:

Gardenia, especially when it blooms in the greenhouse and the warmer air concentrates its smell :)
It reminds me of my childhood days at the Polynesian Resort Hotel at Walt Disney World. They had huge gardenia bushes planted around the grounds.
