Tree 18 m. tall, 35 cm. in diameter; bark flaky. Flowers visited by honeybees, lightly fragrant. Escaped, along with several others of this species, in floodplain of Bronx River by bridge near Lower Twin Lake, and below the Legume collection. The seeds obviously came from the several trees of this species in the Legume collection. Infloresecences both terminal on new, leafy shoots and also from leafless 1-year-old twigs below.

Large patch in the Swale. Primocanes erect, actively growing, 1.3 m. tall. Floricanes arching, no more than 1 m. tall. Flowers nearly past; these plants were in full bloom on 1 June 2006, but two days of heavy rain have helped remove most of the petals. Petals white.

Shrubs 1.5 m. tall at edge of shrubs and trees by Lower Twin Lake, at the bridge between Upper and Lower Twin Lakes. Probably spontaneous; naturalized in a few places in the forested parts of the Garden.
