Holday Tree Lighting November 22, 2008; 4,000 attendees
The Holiday Tree Lighting and Sing-along will kick off the holiday season this year with the twilight lighting of a stunning 25-foot evergreen tree in the Visitor Center Reflecting Pool.
Families can join in the singing of songs that celebrate the many divers holidays of the season— Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Three Kings.
Gingerbread Adventures November 23, 2008 – January 11, 2009; 80,000 attendees
As they stroll through the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, visitors encounter larger-than-life topiary bunnies making gingerbread houses and other holiday treats. Inside, children can smell, touch, and taste the spices and other plant ingredients in a classic gingerbread recipe.
Visitors also explore a display of gingerbrad buildings designed by award-winning pastry chefs from some of New York’s most renowned restaurants and bakeries.
Holiday Members Days November 21 & 22, 2008; 6,000 attendees
On Holiday Members Weekend, members are invited to bring their guests free of charge.
The event features special holiday performances and Home Gardening Demonstrations, the annual Bird Count, and curator-led tours of the winter gardens and tropical displays.
