Mertz Library throughout The Orchid Show are books, dating to the 1830s, depicting a variety of beautiful, exotic orchids. The authors include eminent botanist John Lindley, considered by many to be “the father of orchidology”; F. Sander, the “Royal Orchid Grower” for Queen Victoria; and J.J. Linden, one of the foremost suppliers of orchids in Europe in the mid-1800s.
