\"weekend\"<\/a> Next week is a busy one, with Thanksgiving and Hanukkah occurring simultaneously. So why not relax a bit ahead of it? Come stroll our grounds, visit the Holiday Train Show<\/em><\/a>, let the kiddos blow off steam at Holiday Adventures in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden<\/a>, and wander amid the train-themed works of former United States Poet Laureate Billy Collins along our Holiday Poetry Walk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lights are glittering, the trains are running, there’s a nip in the air, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it! After exploring the wonders of the Holiday Train Show<\/em>, be sure to visit the rest of the Conservatory’s sultry galleries where you’ll find beautiful<\/a> and fascinating<\/a> plants aplenty. Our new, limited-run Holiday Dining Pavilion: “Streets of New York”<\/a> has treats for everyone in your family, and plenty of comfy seating.<\/p>\n

Outside, the Thain Family Forest<\/a> is the epitome of fall, with plenty of leaves to crunch, even if they have fallen to the ground in many places. The Native Plant Garden<\/a> and Azalea Garden<\/a> are also worth a visit this time of year!

\nIf you\u2019re visiting the Train Show<\/em> from the city, why not make a train-filled day of it by taking Metro-North Railroad to Botanical Garden Station from beautiful Grand Central Terminal? Public transportation<\/a> is one of the easiest ways to visit us at this very busy time of year, and your train-obsessed little ones will love the additional train time!<\/p>\n

The Holiday Train Show<\/em> is one of the hottest tickets in town, especially during holiday weekends. So avoid disappointment and book your tickets<\/a> now<\/em>. Tickets are for timed entry. Additionally, while stroller parking is available, strollers and tripods are not allowed in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, so if you\u2019re bringing along a wee one, be sure to pack your favorite baby carrier.<\/p>\n

\nMeet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center<\/em>
\nThe diverse habitats of the Botanical Garden offer visitors a chance to see dozens of species of birds throughout the year. Bring your binoculars and walk the Garden grounds with an expert to learn about bird-friendly habitats, migrating species, and birds that make a permanent home at the Garden.<\/p>\n

Native Plant Garden Tour \u2013 12:30 <\/b>
\nMeet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center<\/em>
\nJoin a tour guide for an insider’s view of the newly designed Native Plant Garden. Enjoy a mosaic of nearly 100,000 native trees, wildflowers, ferns and grasses designed to flourish in every season.<\/p>\n

Poetry for Every Season: Reading with Billy Collins\u2013 2 p.m.<\/b> – SOLD OUT<\/strong><\/span>

\nCo-presented with the Poetry Society of America<\/em>
\nMeet former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins at a special reading of his work and train-themed poems\u2014including beloved winter selections to celebrate the season. Seating is limited and available first come first serve. The event was funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. through public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.<\/em>

\nExplore the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, an acre of plants under glass, with one of the Garden’s Guides. Take an ecotour around the world through 11 distinct habitats, including two types of rain forest, deserts of the Americas and of Africa, and aquatic and carnivorous plant displays.<\/p>\n

\nExperience the beauty of the Garden’s 50-acre Thain Family Forest on this one-hour walking tour with an expertly trained Guide. You’ll learn facts about the trees, history, geology, and ecology of this original, uncut woodland.<\/p>\n

Holiday Adventures in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden<\/b>
\nThe Everett Children’s Adventure Garden is open all day for exploration and kids can participate in a scavenger hunt, explore <\/em>Holiday Train Show Houses, and play in the Greenhouse. Guided activity times follow the schedule below.<\/em><\/p>\n
