\"red<\/a>July is just around the corner, and the grounds continue to impress us each day with new bursts of color. The Groundbreakers<\/em><\/a> exhibit continues to bring visitors on a journey through the history of great American gardens, and now is the perfect time to see the parts of the Garden designed by these extraordinary women.<\/p>\n

This Saturday will be the last chance to enjoy one of Debbie Becker’s famous Bird Walks until they resume in September! Our winged friends are enjoying the sunny days even more than we are, and there are a wide variety of species to observe. Enjoy a walk through the grounds and keep an eye out for cardinals, bluejays, robins, or even one of our resident Red-tailed Hawks! That’s just one event in a full weekend of programs. \nMeet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center
\n<\/em>The diverse habitats of the Botanical Garden offer visitors a chance to see dozens of species of birds throughout the year. Bring your binoculars and walk the Garden grounds with an expert to learn about bird-friendly habitats, migrating species, and birds that make a permanent home at the Garden.<\/p>\n

Rock Garden Tour \u2013 12:30 p.m.<\/b>
\nMeet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center<\/em>
\nThe Rock Garden is a 2.5-acre oasis complete with a pond and waterfall and featuring alpine plants from six continents. Join an expertly trained Garden Guide for a walking tour to see and learn more about these jewel-like plants.<\/p>\n

Rose Garden Tour \u2013 12:30 p.m.<\/b>
\nMeet at the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden<\/em>
\nImmerse yourself in the fragrance, color, and beauty of the award-winning Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden on a tour with a Garden Tour Guide. Learn the differences between Heritage and Modern roses and between floribundas and hybrid teas as well as facts about rose history, cultivation, and folklore.<\/p>\n

From Ragtime to Jazz: The Roots of Pop \u2013 1 & 3:30 p.m.<\/b>
\nIn the Ross Hall<\/em>
\nMusic from the period of Groundbreakers<\/em>\u2014ragtime, jazz, Broadway, and beyond to Hollywood\u2014had a great impact on American culture. Enjoy a variety of styles in live performances by a trio of artists, including musical producer, pianist, and historian Terry Waldo, featuring the works of Scott Joplin, Eubie Blake, Irving Berlin, and Tin Pan Alley composers such as George Gershwin, George M. Cohan, and Dorothy Fields.<\/p>\n

Film Screening: Yours for a Song: The Women of Tin Pan Alley<\/em> \u2013 2 p.m.<\/strong>
\nIn the Ross Hall<\/em>
\nMany popular music standards of the Tin Pan Alley era (1920\u201349) were written by women, including Dorothy Fields, Kay Swift, Dana Suesse, and Ann Ronell, who were among the most influential songwriters of the time. This PBS documentary includes archival footage, motion picture clips, and rarely seen photographs, as well as performance clips of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Perry Como.<\/p>\n

\nMeet at the entrance to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory<\/em>
\nExplore the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, an acre of plants under glass, with one of the Garden’s Guides. Take an ecotour around the world through 11 distinct habitats, including two types of rain forest, deserts of the Americas and of Africa, and aquatic and carnivorous plant displays.<\/p>\n

\nIn the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden<\/i><\/em>
\nChildren will explore the art of garden photography and will even have the opportunity to become garden photographers themselves. Through a series of stops within the Garden, they will see the world through a new lens as they learn how observations in science and nature have been recorded throughout time. They will also receive tips about perspective, scale, and framing when taking photographs.<\/p>\n

Dig, Plant, Grow: Sweet and Stinky \u2014 1:30\u20135:30 p.m.<\/b>
\nIn the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden
\n<\/i>Aromatic alliums and spicy herbs thrive in the summer heat. Follow the sweet and stinky smells to the Family Garden and discover these culinary champions.
