This weekend we want to wish a happy birthday to our friends at Let\u2019s Move!<\/a> This year marks the fifth anniversary of the First Lady\u2019s initiative to raise a healthier generation of kids, so come celebrate with NYBG at Carla Hall’s Culinary Kids Week<\/a> through February 22.<\/p>\n

This Sunday is also the final day of two popular winter exhibitions, Wild Medicine in the Tropics<\/em><\/a> in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory and Flora Illustrata: A Celebration of Botanical Masterworks<\/em><\/a> in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library. Complete your experience of these beautiful exhibitions\u2014highlighting the Garden’s permanent collection of medicinal tropical plants and the Library’s rare manuscripts and botanical artworks\u2014with special tours.<\/p>\n

Carla Hall’s Culinary Kids Week<\/a> \u2013 10 a.m.\u20133 p.m.<\/strong>
\nConservatory Tent<\/em>
\nAs part of the Garden’s Edible Academy<\/a> initiative, join NYBG and Carla Hall for a family-friendly, weeklong festival celebrating the relationships among plants, farms, and your favorite foods. Explore the activity stations and the tropical treats in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory with a kitchen notebook, and join Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden<\/a> staff in the Conservatory Tent for ongoing Activity Stations and Culinary Workshops. Programming is geared for children ages 4\u201312.<\/p>\n

\nThis class presented by Whole Foods Market will provide participants the opportunity to follow a recipe, learn a culinary skill, use kitchen tools, and create a healthy dish to take home. (first-come, first-served registration)<\/em><\/p>\n

\nMeet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center<\/em>
\nThe diverse habitats of the Botanical Garden offer visitors a chance to see dozens of species of birds throughout the year. Bring your binoculars and walk the Garden grounds with an expert to learn about bird-friendly habitats, migrating species, and birds that make a permanent home at the Garden.<\/p>\n

Bronx Arts Ensemble Family Concert: Jack & The Beanstalk \u2014 <\/em>12 & 1:30 p.m.
\n<\/strong>In Ross Hall
\n<\/i>This new production by Dante Albertie and the Children\u2019s Theatre Company at Lehman, with musical arrangement for oboe, clarinet and bassoon by William Scribner is a new twist on an old tale about a boy and his magic beans. Audiences will be introduced to each musical instrument by the Bronx Arts Ensemble players and be invited to join in the adventure!<\/p>\n
