\"Peggy<\/a>Happy Friday! Once again it is time for our weekly roundup of weekend programs and activities at the Garden. June 6 & 7 is Rose Garden Weekend<\/a>!<\/p>\n

This popular highlight of the season’s Spring Weekend offerings at NYBG is when we invite you all to enjoy the seasonal beauty of the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden<\/a>‘s nearly 700 rose cultivars! According to Rose Watch<\/a>, they are now at 75% of peak color, and and rapidly climbing toward full bloom. Admire the vibrant blooming season with live music, refreshments, and expert-led tours and talks\u2014a beautiful experience for everyone from casual rose admirers to experienced rosarians. You can even take part in a rose gardening demonstration.<\/p>\n

\nJoin a staff gardener as they cover standard rose care practice, from fertilizing to pruning.<\/p>\n

\nEnter to win a rose plant to take home! Learn how to care for it from one of our experts on site.

Bird Walk – 11 a.m.<\/strong>
\n Meet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center
\n<\/em>The diverse habitats of the Botanical Garden offer visitors a chance to see dozens of species of birds throughout the year. Bring your binoculars and walk the Garden grounds with an expert to learn about bird-friendly habitats, migrating species, and birds that make a permanent home at the Garden.<\/p>\n

Textile Demonstrations: Female Artisans from Oaxaca – 10 a.m.\u20135 p.m.<\/strong>
\n In Shop in the Garden<\/a><\/em>
\nWomen artisans from Chiapas and Oaxaca demonstrate their age-old techniques in weaving and embroidery. Using the backstrap loom, these textile artists evoke ancient motifs with natural dyes, striking a beautiful balance between traditional and contemporary.<\/p>\n

Dig! Plant! Grow! Salad Days – 1:30\u20136 p.m.<\/strong>
\n In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden<\/em>
\nPlants and imaginations grow at the Howell Family Garden<\/a>, where kids are allowed!\u2014no, encouraged!\u2014to play in the dirt. Display gardens, such as the Global Gardens and the Bean Tunnel or Salad Bowl, and daily interactive gardening activities delight and inspire. Drop-in activities end at 5:30 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHands-on activities in the Edible Academy\u2019s Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden<\/a> bring together children and their families to experience the colors, textures, smells, and tastes of Frida Kahlo\u2019s Mexican kitchen. Cooking demonstrations feature recipes inspired by those Frida served to family and friends, using nutritious, garden-based ingredients. Visitors can explore and tend to the plant staples of Mexican cuisine growing throughout the Family Garden: beans, tomatoes, peppers, chiles, herbs, and more!<\/p>\n

\nVisit the Everett Children\u2019s Adventure Garden<\/a> to experience the inspiration Frida Kahlo found in the natural world that can be seen and appreciated in her artwork.
