Bird Walk – 11 a.m.
\n<\/strong>Meet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center.
\n<\/em>The diverse habitats of the Botanical Garden offer visitors a chance to see dozens of species of birds throughout the year. Bring your binoculars and walk the Garden grounds with an expert to learn about bird-friendly habitats, migrating species, and birds that make a permanent home at the Garden.<\/p>\n

Forest\u00a0Tour – 12:30 & 2:30 p.m.
\n<\/strong>Meet at the Reflecting Pool in the Leon Levy Visitor Center
\n<\/em>Experience the beauty of the Garden’s 50-acre Thain Family Forest<\/a> on this one-hour walking tour with an expertly trained Guide. You’ll learn facts about the trees, history, geology, and ecology of this original, uncut.<\/p>\n

Live Music and Dance – 1 p.m. Ross Hall; 2\u20134 p.m. Garden Grounds
\n<\/strong>Part of<\/em> FRIDA KAHLO: Art, Garden, Life
\n<\/span>Take a journey through Mexico with traditional dancing featuring <\/span>Calpulli Danza Mexicana<\/strong><\/a>. After their indoor set, see them perform throughout the Garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/em>Every Saturday at 3 p.m., experience Frida Kahlo on the big screen with the Academy Award-winning film Frida<\/em>, directed by Julie Taymor and starring Salma Hayek. On Sundays, a revolving series of compelling documentaries, shorts, and features takes you inside the vibrant culture of Mexico today, presented in partnership with Cinema Tropical.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s Feature: FRIDA<\/em><\/strong> (Julie Taymor, USA, 2002, 123 min. Rated R) (English)
\nFrida<\/em> chronicles the life Frida Kahlo shared unflinchingly and openly with Diego Rivera as the young couple took the art world by storm. Frida Kahlo lived a bold and uncompromising life as a political, artistic, and sexual revolutionary.<\/p>\n

Ross Conifer Arboretum Tour – 4 p.m.
\n<\/strong>Meet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center
\n<\/em>The Arthur and Janet Ross Conifer Arboretum<\/a> is a historic, 15-acre collection of towering pines, elegant spruces, and mountain firs from around the world. These irreplaceable trees were among the first planted at the Garden, some as far back as the early 1900s. Join an expertly trained Guide for a tour of these exquisite specimens.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s Feature: Volando Bajo\/Flying Low<\/em><\/strong> (Beto Gomez, Mexico, 2014, 96 minutes)
\nFlying Low<\/em> pays tribute to the popular and over-the-top Mexican cinema of the 70\u2019s and 80\u2019s. The fiction film follows the Chuy\u00edn Venegas and Cornelio Barraza, who were the biggest stars of popular music and cinema of their time. After a decade of musical stardom \u201cThe Goldfinches of Rosarito,\u201d parted ways. Now living in a mansion in Paris, Chuy\u00edn is launching a new album and international tour. But loneliness and ghosts from the past will make him change plans. He returns to the seaside village where he and Cornelius met as children for a last musical adventure. This film has been hailed as the Mexican This Is Spinal Tap<\/em>, and also praised for its nostalgic and intimate tone that goes beyond the mere jokes to serve as a tribute to the Mexican B-movies and popular music of the 70\u2019s and 80\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Mario Batali’s Kitchen Gardens – 1:30 p.m.\u20136 p.m.
\n<\/strong>In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden
\n<\/em>Garden beds are filled with plants featured in the favorite recipes of the chefs from Mario Batali\u2019s restaurants. Kids can explore the gardens to solve Mario\u2019s Menu Mystery game.<\/p>\n

Dig! Plant! Grow! Scent-sational Herbs – 1:30\u20136 p.m.<\/strong>
\n In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden<\/em>
\nPlants and imaginations grow at the Howell Family Garden<\/a>, where kids are allowed!\u2014no, encouraged!\u2014to play in the dirt. Display gardens, such as the Global Gardens and the Bean Tunnel or Salad Bowl, and daily interactive gardening activities delight and inspire. Drop-in activities end at 5:30 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n

Cooking with Frida – 2 & 4 p.m.<\/strong>

\n In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden<\/em>
\nHands-on activities in the Edible Academy\u2019s Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden<\/a> bring together children and their families to experience the colors, textures, smells, and tastes of Frida Kahlo\u2019s Mexican kitchen. Cooking demonstrations feature recipes inspired by those Frida served to family and friends, using nutritious, garden-based ingredients. Visitors can explore and tend to the plant staples of Mexican cuisine growing throughout the Family Garden: beans, tomatoes, peppers, chiles, herbs, and more!<\/p>\n

\n Everett Children’s Adventure Garden<\/em>
\nVisit the Everett Children\u2019s Adventure Garden<\/a> to experience the inspiration Frida Kahlo found in the natural world that can be seen and appreciated in her artwork.
