Thallus thin, epiphloeodal, continuous to slightly and shallowly cracked, ashy gray to white, minutely longitudinally ridged, thin and sometimes splitting broadly, cortex thin and discontinuous, and since, only patchily shiny superficially, if not then slightly rough, K-, P-. Ascomata short bacilliform to oryzaeform, slightly curved to straight, sessile and quite tall, not constricted at base, with thick steep sides bordered by thalline margin all the way to the apex, lateral walls ± parallel, exciple carbonized, taller than broad, entire and closed below, unbranched, disks not exposed, with taller than wide (by 2-3x) hymenium, blackish epihymenium, not inspersed, Spores 8/ascus, about 20 locular, 13x82µ, I+ blue, oblong with evenly spaced cells, moderately thickened walls, lumina ± lentiform-rectangular. No lichen substances.
