Graphidaceae of Central French Guiana

Graphis sp. Buck 33166

Thallus corticolous, thin, much like G. triticea but with prosoplectenchymatous layer which is sometimes shreddy and discontinuous, disk closed, not at all carbonized or carbonized discontinuously, then not carbonized when young, with increasing carbonization with age, beginning at tips of labia and later developing throughout locule, sometimes with fertile hymenium below filled-carbonized one. Irregular carbonization along length of single apothecium, apparently not carbonized when fertile. Disk not exposed. Prosoplectenchymatous layer covering slightly puffed (again, lacking Wirth and Hale's "distinctive" whitish puffs at labia tips) apothecium (up to 2 mm x ca. 0.4mm), thallus gray green and shining, smooth, continuous, thin, uniform, labia appearing cartilaginous above, saturated yellowish oily veil completely covering apothecia, spores I- to hemiamyloid, 5-8x13-15µ. P-, K+ yellow. No lichen substances.
