Thallus corticolous, light grayish to white, with occasional light greenish tones, ± uniform, epiphloeodal, narrowly cracked throughout and minutely wrinkled, with cortical layer smooth and shining, K+ yellow, P-. Ascomata short lirelline, mostly widely dispersed, bacilliform, sessile, not much constricted at base with thin thalline concolorous veil below and brilliant carmine crust above, with few crystal inclusions in veil. Red veil entire and thin-crusted when young, later breaking into farinose powder, strongly K+ purple. Medulla with many crystal inclusions dispersed throughout; exciple carbonized throughout and closed below, generally cordate in cross section, entire when young and appearing entire from without except on very old ascomata, older ascomata deeply few striate below veil and veil continuous between striae, striate in part because of large crystalline inclusions splitting carbonized exciple above, exciple convergent above and disk not exposed; hymenium narrow, hypohymenium colorless, epihymenium blackish, I-, of many dense, long paraphyses and 4-8 spored asci. Spores 12-14 locules, 8x63µ, I+ blue. On small twigs; no lichen substances, but with orange pigment.
