Thallus corticolous, epiphloeodal, thin crustose, corticate discontinuously of colorless, cartilaginous, olivaceous, irregularly thickened prosoplectenchyma; where ecorticate, minutely roughened and granular, matte, evenly gray green, cracked centrally where thickest, extent of thallus indistinct - lacking a conspicuous border, olivaceous gray, almost shiny and minutely verruculate, with raised paler areas, subcartilaginous, pycnidia(?) scattered throughout central part of thallus, K+ yellow to reddish tinged, P+ stictic (orange-red). Ascomata massive, sessile, lirelline, ± bacilliform, stout, slightly curved to undulate or ± straight, 0.6 - 2.5 mm long to quite evenly ca. 0.3 mm wide, not branching to once-, short-branched, constricted at base, abundant and quite densely and evenly spread over thallus to widely dispersed; veil concolorous and similar textured to thallus, sometimes corticate at base, rarely to apex, otherwise of a thin, even granular gray-green throughout and whitish at apex, when rubbed with exposed carbonized exciple. Exciple carbonized throughout, rather thickly below, entire to crenate to obscurely pluri-striate, mostly obscured by veil. Labia convergent/connivent, disk not exposed. Hymenium strongly inspersed or not at all, I-, of dense capilliform and rarely short-branched apically, eseptate paraphyses, rounded below, yellowish orange hypothecium. Spores 8/ascus, 6-12 (14) locular, 6-8x 23-45µ, I-. Pycnidia immersed in thallus, between upper bark layers, resembling apothecial primordia, trapezoidal in cross section, producing ellipsoidal conidia with short narrower neck at attachment, ca. 1x3-5µ long, with neck less than 1µ long. Sticitc acid aggregate.
