Cortinarius bolaris (Pers.:Fr.) Fr.

This Cortinarius is extremely rare under Costa Rican oaks. We have found it just three times and often there are just single basidiomata. Distinctive features include the copper red colored squamules on pale background color on the pileus and stipe, and yellow stains from injury or when the interior flesh is exposed.
