This species of Hypholoma appears frequently on dead oak logs in the Talamancas. It can be distinguished by the orangish brown pileus, pale lamellae that become smoky grey, and stipe with a fine annular zone near the apex. The specimens shown here were found on a dead log at La Chonta.
