This club-shaped Basidiomycete has just been found (June 2003) in the Cordillera Talamanca under Quercus rapurahuensis and Q. copeyensis in the Savegre river valley. The basidiomes were deeply buried in the soil and up to 20 cm in height. Current thought is that it is related to gomphoid/phalloid species. Dr. A. Methven kindly provided the identification.
