Basidiomata of this polypore are produced annually on oak logs. We have seen it occasionally in the Talamancas. The pinkish to brownish red color and gelatinous consistency are not easily overlooked. Also, the tubes are separate from one another but are packed closely together. It causes a brown rot of hardwoods. The fungus is cosmopolitan in the Northern Hemisphere.
