Rhodocybe incarnata Baroni & Halling

Photograph by R. E. Halling, © 1997

This Rhodocybe was originally described from a collection found in the coastal cordillera of Venezuela (Mycologia 84: 411-421. 1992). The flame red to orange pileus that is distinctly subtomentose is diagnostic. Also, the hyphae that make up the pileipellis are not encrusted and form a trichodermium. Other characters include adnexed lamellae, short cheilocystidia, discrete caulocystidia, and siderophilous granules in the basidia which will distinguish the taxon from related taxa.
