This macroascomycete is routinely encountered in oak forests of the Talamancas as well as in the páramo under Comarostaphylis arbutoides. Originally described from Europe, the ascomata have a gelatinous texture, and yellow-orange colors with some hint of very pale green. The upper, fertile portion of Leotia viscosa is green to deep bluish green.
