Marasmiellus volvatus Singer

Photograph by R. E. Halling, © 2003

This species of Marasmiellus appears to be widely dispersed in the lowland Neotropics. It can be distinguished by the whitish, pilcate pileus, insititious, often bulbous stipe with a fine volva remnant. The specimens shown here were collected on dead sticks at Santa Rosa in the Guanacaste Conservation Area in NW Costa Rica.
