        Thin-stemmed, epiphytic shrub to 1 m tall;  mature branches terete, glabrate;  bark grayish and cracking into thin longitudinal strips;  twigs terete or subterete, smooth, reddish-brown, densely pilose with spreading hairs to 0.8 mm long.  Leaves slightly concave, ovate to elliptic-ovate, (0.8-)1-1.8 x (0.3-)0.5-1(-1.3) cm, basally rounded or broadly obtuse, apically acute or shortly blunt-acuminate, margins slightly revolute, pilose on both surfaces (glabrate above) with white spreading hairs to 0.8 mm long;  weakly 5-plinerved, midrib conspicuous, plane to slightly impressed above and raised beneath, lateral nerves inconspicuous and with reticulate veinlets raised above but obscure beneath;  petioles terete, rugose, pilose, 1-2 mm long and 0.8 mm diam.  Inflorescence 4-6(-12)-flowered;  rachis flexuous, subterete, glabrous, 1.2-2.5(-4.5) cm long and 0.7-1 mm in diam., green suffused with violet when fresh;  floral bracts caducous, membranaceous, broadly oblong-ovate, 3.5 x 4 mm, apically rounded, glabrous, purplish-violet;  pedicels terete, smooth, glabrous, when fresh 5 mm long and 0.6 mm diam. (drying 0.3 mm), green suffused with violet, provided with spherical glands 0.2 mm in diam. at distal tip;  bracteoles located at base of pedicel, caducous, membranaceous, oblong, 0.5 mm long, distal 1/3 glandular callose-thickened.  Flowers:  calyx glabrous, 3 mm long, dark violet when fresh;  hypanthium cylindric, smooth, weakly 5-ribbed, 1-1.2 mm long, basally narrowly apophysate;  limb campanulate, 1.8-2 mm long;  lobes broadly triangular, acute, ca. 1.2 mm long, connivent after anthesis, each margin provided with an oblong somewhat crescent-shaped callose gland, these not contiguous at lobe tip;  sinuses acute;  corolla cylindric and somewhat bottle-shaped, narrowed at throat, glabrous, 10-11 m long and 5-6 mm in diam. at broadest point, pale violet when fresh, lobes deltoid, ca. 0.5 mm long, spreading to reflexed at anthesis;  stamens slightly less than half the corolla length, 4.2-4.4 mm long;  filaments essentially glabrous, alternately ca. 1.2 mm and 1.8 mm long;  anthers alternately ca. 3.2 mm and 2.7 mm long;  thecae ca. 1.2 mm long;  style 8 mm long.  Berry 4-5 mm diam.

        Distribution (Map).  Endemic to Colombia, and known only from two collections.  Rare and endangered.
