         Epiphyte, sometimes growing over rock;  stem terete, glabrous;  twigs subterete, complanate, striate, sometimes inconspicuously flexuous, densely short-pilose to villous with hairs 0.5-1 mm long, glabrate.  Leaves succulent when fresh and concave but drying thick-coriaceous, sometimes strongly revolute, and with the midrib often strongly carinate above, ovate, (2-)2.5-4 x (1.2-)1.5-1.8 cm, base rounded, apex gradually acuminate, the apex itself often ca. 5 mm long and obtusely callose apiculate, margin entire, thickened and narrowly recurved, lamina inconspicuously pilose with hairs ca. 0.5 mm long all over, glabrate, also glandular-fimbriate beneath;  5(-7)-plinerved from the base, midrib and lateral nerves raised on both surfaces, reticulate veinlets raised but obscure;  petiole subterete, 0.5-1 mm long, short-pilose, glabrate.  Inflorescence axillary, 1-2-flowered, shorter than and somewhat hidden by the leaves;  floral bract lanceolate, 0.7-1 mm long, sparsely short-pilose;  pedicel terete, 7-10 mm long, moderately short-pilose with white hairs 0.2-0.4 mm long;  bracteoles located below middle, linear-aristate, ca. 0.6-0.7 mm long.  Flowers 5-merous, with calyx 4-5 mm long, short-pilose to villous with white hairs;  hypanthium turbinate, 2.5-3 mm long;  limb campanulate, erect-spreading, ca.1.6-2 mm long;  lobes broadly deltate, acute to short-acuminate, 0.6-1 mm long;  sinuses rounded;  corolla carnose, urceolate, ca. 6 mm long and 4.5 mm diam., glabrous or often puberulent between lobes, pale greenish-yellow, the lobes spreading deltate, acute, ca. 0.7 mm long;  stamens 10, alternately slightly unequal, ca. 4.3-4.8 mm long;  filaments alternately slightly unequal, ca. 1-1.5 mm long, densely villose above with hairs ca. 0.5 mm long;  anthers 3.5-4 mm long;  thecae ca. 1.5 mm long, the base rounded;  tubules thinner than thecae, ca. 2 mm long, dehiscing by oval clefts ca. 0.5 mm long;  nectariferous disc annular-pulvinate, glabrous;  style thin, equalling corolla.  Berry spherical, ca. 9 mm diam.

         Distribution.  Endemic to Ecuador and only collected three times.  Rare and endangered.
