Effective September 1, 2021:

In accordance with New York City Executive Order 225, all visitors ages 12 and older must show valid proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for entry to indoor exhibition spaces and facilities, and all dining venues.

  • Visitors over the age of 18 must also supply official identification displaying name and photo or date of birth.
  • Visitors who do not supply valid proof of vaccination and ID are only permitted entry to outdoor gardens and restrooms.
  • Children under the age of 12 who are accompanied by a vaccinated adult may enter indoor exhibition spaces and facilities, and all dining venues.
  • All visitors are required to wear face coverings indoors and in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden and the Edible Academy.

NYBG continues to monitor CDC, state, and city guidelines.

  1. No. You may visit the outdoor areas of the Garden without proof of vaccination, but are not permitted entry to any buildings other than restrooms, and may not enter any dining areas.

  2. Proof of vaccination for visitors over 12 years of age is required at:

    • All NYBG Buildings, including but not limited to:
      • KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature Galleries and the Infinity Mirrored Room
      • The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory
      • NYBG Shop
      • Indoor areas of the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden and the Edible Academy
      • The LuEsther T. Mertz Library
      • The Watson Education Building
    • The Pine Tree Café and Hudson Garden Grill, including outdoor dining.
  3. Yes, you can exchange your ticket for a Kusama Garden Pass. Please email ticketingsupport@nybg.org with your order number or a copy of your order confirmation to request an exchange.

  4. Yes. Please email ticketingsupport@nybg.org with your order number or a copy of your order confirmation to request a refund.

  5. Yes. Be sure to reserve a KUSAMA Garden Pass ticket for entry only to the outdoor areas of the Garden and restrooms.

  6. No. Proof of vaccination is required to enter all dining areas, including outdoor dining. However, you are welcome to bring your own food and drink to enjoy at the Clay Picnic Pavilion.

  7. Yes. You may enter with valid proof of a single dose of your COVID-19 vaccine.

  8. You may visit the Garden any time after the first dose of your COVID-19 vaccine.

  9. In accordance with NYC Executive Order 225 the below are valid forms of proof of vaccination:

    • A photo or hard copy of your CDC vaccination card
    • NYC COVID Safe App (available to anyone)
    • New York State Excelsior App (available to those vaccinated within New York State)
    • Official vaccine record
    • A photo or hard copy of an official vaccination record administered outside of the United States for vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
  10. In accordance with NYC Executive Order 225, identification should bear the name of the individual and a photo or date of birth. This information must correspond with the same identifying information on the proof of vaccination.

    Examples of acceptable identification include but are not limited to:

    • Driver’s license
    • Non-driver government ID card
    • IDNYC
    • Passport
    • School ID card
  11. If you received the vaccine outside the U.S., you must have an official immunization record that includes:

    • First name and last name
    • Date of birth
    • Vaccine product name (only vaccines authorized by the WHO are acceptable)
    • Date(s) administered
    • Site where the vaccine was administered, or name of the person who administered it
  12. Visitors may show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 with any vaccine approved for emergency use by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) or World Health Organization (WHO).

  13. We ask that you please stay home if you are sick, symptomatic, or have had known exposure to COVID-19. To request a ticket exchange due to an illness, email ticketingsupport@nybg.org with your order number or a copy of your order confirmation.

  14. Yes. NYBG does not maintain records of visitor or Member vaccination status.

  15. No. NYC Executive Order Number 225 requires proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

  16. As this is NYC Executive Order Number 225, we do not have a timeline for the extent of this policy.

  17. Our face covering policy is in alignment with the CDC recommendation that vaccinated people should wear a mask indoors in public in areas of substantial or high transmission.
