Biography of Roger Delmon Goos

Roger Delmon Goos (1924- ) a mycologist specializing in Helicosporae, was born in Beaman, Iowa, on October 24, 1924. He received a B.A. in 1950 and a Ph.D. in 1958 from the University of Iowa. Goos was appointed associate professor of botany at the University of Rhode Island in 1970 where he served as chairman of the department from 1971-1986, retiring from the University in 1995. A member of many professional organizations, he served as president of the Mycological Society of America from 1985-1986.


Scope and Content

The Goos papers comprise typescripts, research notes, and photographs relating to Helicosporae, spores with a single axis curved through at least 180 degrees.
