Very little is known of Stanley G. Ranger's personal life.
This collection is made up of largely incoming and outgoing correspondence concerning seed exchanges, orders, and maintenance
of seeds, bulbs, general plants, and orchids for the New York Botanical Garden. Numerous countries are represented including
South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia, China, French and British Guiana, Fiji, Canada, Ecuador, and Kenya. Companies
and institutions represented include colleges and universities, argicultural branches of government, and seed and bulb wholesalers
and nurseries. Most outgoing correspondence is from Stanley G. Ranger, while there is a sampling of correspondence from E.D.
Merrill, former director of NYBG from 1929-1935.
This collection is open for research with permission from Mertz
Library staff.
Requests for permission to publish material from the collection should
be submitted in writing to the LuEsther T. Mertz Library of the New York
Botanical Garden.
