DISTRIBUTION OF NEOTROPICAL LECYTHIDACEAE

Species range from southern Mexico (Eschweilera mexicana) to Paraguay (Cariniana estrellensis)

  • Dominant in lowland terra firme forests.
  • Absent from dry areas (e.g., llanos and caatinga).
  • Present but less common in flooded forest.
  • Present but less common above 1000 meters.
  • Infrequent in disturbed habitats.
