Cross-Country Trek

I love New York! My husband and I live in Iowa, but we have visited NYC three times in the last ten years, always between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

In 2008, we traveled with Bus Tours To New York from Fredericton to the Botanical Garden. The trip was part of our adventure, and we were thrilled to look down into Yankee Stadium from the elevated track. We spent a happy morning seeing everything at the Conservatory, including the Holiday Train Show. This is one of the many photos taken that day.

Chrysler Building

The Chrysler Building NYBGThe Chrysler Building, considered a masterpiece of Art Deco architecture, was designed by William Van Alen and served as the headquarters for the Chrysler Corporation from 1930 until the mid-1950s. For 11 months, it stood as the world’s tallest building before being surpassed by the Empire State Building.

Despite popular belief, the skyscraper was neither constructed nor paid for by the Chrysler Corporation. It was actually the project of William P. Chrysler himself, intended as an inheritance for his children. In later years, however, its ownership has changed hands several times.
