Directions and Parking

NYBG’s main entrance, the Conservatory Gate, is located at 2900 Southern Blvd., Bronx, NY 10458.

Public transportation is the easiest and quickest way to get to the Garden. During peak visitation days parking in and around the Garden may be limited. Refer to the list of independent garages below when NYBG parking is at capacity.

Public Transportation

  1. Just 20 minutes from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan! Take the Metro-North Harlem local line to Botanical Garden Station. Cross Southern Boulevard to the Garden’s Mosholu Gate entrance.

    Take the B, D, or 4 train to Bedford Park Blvd. Station. From the station exit: Take the Bx26 bus east to the Garden’s Mosholu Gate entrance.

    OR walk eight blocks down the hill on Bedford Park Blvd (approximately 20 minutes). Turn left onto Southern Blvd. and walk one block to Mosholu Gate entrance.

    Take the 2 train to Allerton Ave. station. From the station exit: Walk three blocks west on Allerton Ave. Turn left on Bronx Park East and walk two blocks to Waring Ave. At the park entrance, walk up the small hill leading directly to the Garden’s East Gate.

    NOTICE: East Gate is open during the Garden’s normal daytime hours (10 a.m.–6 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays and Monday federal holidays; 10 a.m.–5 p.m., mid-January–mid-February). Use the Conservatory Gate or Mosholu Gate for evening event access.

Biking to the Garden

NYBG offers free bicycle racks at all entry gates. We encourage biking as an alternate mode of transportation.

Biking is not permitted anywhere on Garden grounds.

Directions by Car

  1. West Side Hwy North to Henry Hudson Pkwy North to Mosholu Pkwy (Exit 24). Continue to the end. Turn right onto Southern Blvd. At the third traffic light, turn left into the Garden.

  2. FDR Drive North to Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly the Triboro Bridge) to Bruckner Expwy East (I-278) to Bronx River Pkwy North to Fordham Rd (Exit 7W). Merge onto Fordham Rd and stay in right lane. Turn right onto Southern Blvd, and continue to the Garden entrance on the right.

  3. Saw Mill River Pkwy South to Cross County Pkwy East (OR Hutchinson River Pkwy South to Cross County Pkwy West) to Bronx River Pkwy (Exit 6) South to Fordham Rd (Exit 7W). Merge onto Fordham Rd and stay in right lane. Turn right onto Southern Blvd, and continue to the Garden entrance on the right.

  4. New England Thruway South (I-95) to Pelham Parkway West (Exit 8C). Pelham Pkwy turns into Fordham Rd after 2 miles. Turn right onto Southern Blvd, and continue to the Garden entrance on the right.

    Or:
    Merritt Pkwy South to Hutchinson River Pkwy South to Cross County Pkwy West to Bronx River Pkwy (Exit 6) South to Fordham Road (Exit 7W) Merge onto Fordham Rd and stay in right lane. Turn right onto Southern Blvd, and continue to the Garden entrance on the right.

  5. Throgs Neck Bridge to New England Thruway (I-95) North to Pelham Pkwy West (Exit 8C). Pelham Pkwy turns into Fordham Rd after 2 miles. Turn right onto Southern Blvd, and continue to the Garden entrance on the right.

  6. NYS Thruway South (I-87) to Saw Mill River Pkwy South (Exit 7A, just south of I-287) to Mosholu Pkwy (Exit 24). Continue to the end. Turn right onto Southern Blvd. At the third traffic light, turn left into the Garden.

  7. George Washington Bridge to Henry Hudson Pkwy North to Mosholu Pkwy (Exit 24). Continue to the end. Turn right onto Southern Blvd. At the third traffic light, turn left into the Garden.

  8. Bronx-Whitestone Bridge to Hutchinson River Pkwy North to Bruckner Expwy West (I-278) to Bronx River Pkwy North to Fordham Rd (Exit 7W). Merge onto Fordham Rd and stay in right lane. Turn right onto Southern Blvd, and continue to the Garden entrance on the right.

    Directions from Manhattan or Long Island may be preferable, depending on your starting point.

Parking

Visitor Parking

Visitor parking is $15 per vehicle. Active members with a valid parking pass and Supporting level members and above receive free parking.

Enter via the Conservatory Gate entrance at 2900 Southern Boulevard for on-site parking. During peak visitation times, off-site parking at NYBG’s Parking Garage (401 Bedford Park Blvd) or elsewhere may be used if our on-site lot is full. Please follow the signage and note the NYBG staff members directing traffic on peak visitation days.

Private Events and Classes/Lectures

For special events, such as weddings, and classes and lectures, please enter via Mosholu Gate where you will be directed to park.

Entrance Gates

  1. The Conservatory Gate, located at 2900 Southern Blvd., is the Garden’s main gate. All visitors arriving by car and public transit bus lines Bx19, Bx12, and Bx22 are directed to this gate.

    The Conservatory Gate is the gateway to the Garden, offering easy access to the Visitor Center, Pine Tree Café, and NYBG Shop.

  2. The Mosholu Gate, on Southern Blvd. between Mosholu Parkway and Bedford Park Blvd., is easily accessible to guests arriving via Metro-North Railroad to Botanical Garden station and the B, D, and 4 subway lines to Bedford Park Blvd. station. The gate is also near public transit bus lines Bx26 and Bx41.

    Although the Mosholu Gate is a pedestrian-only gate, guests arriving via car for special events, such as weddings, adult education classes, and lectures, are authorized to drive in at this gate.

  3. The Bedford Park Gate, at the corner of Southern Blvd. and Bedford Park Blvd., is a pedestrian-only gate open on weekends and peak visitation days only. It’s easily accessible from the NYBG garage, Metro-North Railroad, and the B, D, and 4 subway lines. The gate is also near public transit bus lines Bx26 and Bx41.

  4. The East Gate, located at Waring Ave. and Bronx Park East, is a pedestrian-only gate and is easily accessible to guests arriving via the 2 subway line to Allerton Ave station.

    The East Gate is open during the Garden’s normal daytime hours. Use the Conservatory Gate or Mosholu Gate for early morning or evening event access.
