Before you can bat an eye, you’ll be up to your ears in New Year’s party planning while trying to decide on your resolutions for 2012 (as shaky as they always turn out in practice).

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! If you’re in search of a way to entertain the in-laws and maybe a place to knock out those last few items on your all-too-lengthy gift list (nothing to be ashamed of; I’m so far behind on my shopping I’m thinking of giving everyone scratch-offs), there are still a few chances to catch the Holiday Train Show before Sunday.

We’ll be closed for Christmas day, making tonight (Friday) a picture-perfect opportunity to stop by and see the Train Show in all its sparkly regalia. It’s guaranteed to be a lively evening! And for those who need to check off one or two more gifts for friends and family, our Shop in the Garden will be open to save the day. Don’t be shy about asking one of our gift experts for some pointers–we understand how stressful it can be when you’re trying to make Santa’s all-important deadline.

If you can’t be here for tonight’s festivities, you’ll still have time on Saturday to take advantage of our Christmas Eve hours. Not only will the Train Show be running until 3 p.m., but if you get here mid-afternoon you can treat the kids to Gingerbread Adventures, not to mention a viewing of Thomas the Tank Engine during our ongoing Holiday Film Festival.

Don’t worry about being here before the weekend’s out, though. Our exhibition schedule is very accommodating. We’ll immediately reopen on Monday for you to take advantage of the kids being out of school. And because we know the holidays can be a stressful time for everyone, the Holiday Train Show will continue to run through January 16 to give our visitors as much leeway as possible. Sometimes it’s less nerve-wracking to pay us a visit here at the NYBG once the presents have been unwrapped, the feasts dealt with, and all of your relatives shipped back to their respective homes.

Be sure to check in with Plant Talk over the next couple of weeks for more info on our continuing holiday events!

Don’t forget to reserve your tickets online for the best chance to get the time slot you’d like. The Holiday Train Show is popular this time of season!
