barcar1It’s time for Bar Car Nights! Bar Car Nights are your chance to see the Holiday Train Show in a sophisticated, adults-only setting, cocktail in hand.

Starting tonight and happening again tomorrow, Bar Car Nights are a festive, sparkling, cheer-filled opportunity to embrace the holidays while indulging the kid inside you. The Holiday Train Show is a must-see for architecture buffs, train enthusiasts, and anyone who loves New York City.

See all your favorite New York-area landmarks recreated in miniature using only plant materials under the dazzling domes of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory while indulging in a signature cocktail designed just for us!

Bar Car Nights are a great date night, a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays with your friends, or a chance to see one of New York City’s most enchanting holiday experiences in a sophisticated, child-free setting. Cap the night off with dinner from one of our exclusive partner restaurants or nosh your way around our new Holiday Dining Pavilion: Streets of New York, Stephen STARR Events’ dining experience that celebrates everything delicious about historic NYC street food.

A very limited number of tickets are still available for tonight and tomorrow, so snap them up as quickly as you can and join us for this enchanting evening!

Bird Walk – 11 a.m.
Meet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center
The diverse habitats of the Botanical Garden offer visitors a chance to see dozens of species of birds throughout the year. Bring your binoculars and walk the Garden grounds with an expert to learn about bird-friendly habitats, migrating species, and birds that make a permanent home at the Garden.

Forest Tour – 12:30 p.m.
Meet at the Reflecting Pool in the Leon Levy Visitor Center
Experience the beauty of the Garden’s 50-acre Thain Family Forest on this one-hour walking tour with an expertly trained Guide. You’ll learn facts about the trees, history, geology, and ecology of this original, uncut woodland.

History of NYBG Tour – 2:30 p.m.
Meet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center
Meet one of the Garden’s guides for a tour of historically significant sites within the Garden’s 250 acres.

Bar Car Nights – 7 – 10 p.m.
On these special nights for grown-ups at the Holiday Train Show, leisurely view the wondrous exhibition while sipping a complimentary cocktail. Get into the holiday spirit under the magical glow of thousands of twinkling lights–a perfect holiday date night! A professional photographer will be on hand to capture this special holiday memory, and the images will be available for download or purchase after your visit. And new this year, head outside to the Conservatory Courtyard to watch expert ice carvers from Okamoto Studios take giant blocks of ice and transform them into holiday works of art–trains, Garden landmarks, and more.

Native Plant Garden Tour – 12:30 p.m.
Meet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center
Join a tour guide for an insider’s view of the newly designed Native Plant Garden. Enjoy a mosaic of nearly 100,000 native trees, wildflowers, ferns and grasses designed to flourish in every season.

Garden Highlights Tour – 2:30 p.m.
Meet at the Reflecting Pool at the Leon Levy Visitor Center
The sights and scents of the season flourish across the 250 acres of the Botanical Garden. Join a Garden Tour Guide for a walking tour featuring highlights of the gardens and plant collections.

Holiday Adventures
In the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden
The Holiday Train Show® continues in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, where kids can embark on a journey through a variety of activity train station stops, including an artist’s station, an engineer’s station, and a builder’s station, as well as an educational display of Holiday Train Show® houses. Each weekend brings even more fun with Holiday Parades and Ralph Lee’s Artist Station, a craft studio for families featuring train landscapes and materials kids can use to create their own trains, people, and animals to inhabit the scene!
