NYBG Antique Garden Furniture FairNext weekend is the perfect opportunity to beautify your home, both indoors and out, while celebrating the harmony between houses and gardens. From April 25 to 27, more than 30 established vendors will take part in this year’s Antique Garden Furniture Fair, offering centuries of classic indoor and outdoor decor from both Europe and North America.

At the same time, NYBG Shop in the Garden staff can help you find the best plant to make your home pop this season at the Specialty Plant Sale. Our Garden Room next to the Fair will include a special selection of shrubs and trees, perennials and annuals, as well as herbs and other unique home greenery. But that’s only the beginning. Head below to read more about the big names and exciting events coming to the Antiques Garden Furniture Fair in 2014!

For those looking for a little inspiration for their spring decor, opening day on April 25 is not to be missed. Deborah Nevins, landscape historian and a designer of several international landscape projects, will deliver a lecture entitled A Landscape Autobiography, while Garden designer Page Dickey will speak about Houses and Gardens: Their Intimate Relationship. She will also be on hand signing copies of her books at the Book Signers Fair. She will be joining several accomplished guest authors from the world of plants whose names green thumbs will likely recognize, including Dr. Michael J. Balick, leading ethnobotanist and our own Vice President for Botanical Science.

The Gardening Life of Beatrix Potter by Marta McDowell is a charming book for garden-lovers, bookworms, and the kid in all of us. Heaven is a Garden is the latest book from Jan Johnsen, author of the popular Serenity in the Garden blog.

Throughout the weekend, the Conservatory Tent will host a series of Q&A Sessions with visiting experts. The interesting and useful topics include Gardenmania – Understanding Antique Botanical Prints, Planning a Children’s Garden, and Identifying and Understanding Antique Garden Furniture.
